Who ever thought we’d be getting life advice from Ashton Kutcher? I recently came across a video of him when he won the Ultimate Choice Award at the Teen Choice Awards a couple years back. And to my surprise, he shocked us all with a very heartwarming and valuable speech that can still have a large impact on us all today. Not only did he tell us that his real name is actually Chris (gasp!), but he also breaks down what being famous means to him and what it doesn’t mean (now it all makes sense why he chose to have a ninja wedding with Mila Kunis).
So, here are the 3 main lessons that “Chris” has learned throughout his life and career that will help us all as we continue on our #EYOB journey:
Opportunity. “I believe that opportunity looks a lot like hard work.” We should always remember that hard work will move you forward, and that we cannot be better than our jobs, but we should be lucky to have one. Every opportunity you have is a stepping stone into becoming a better you!
Being Sexy. “The sexiest thing in the entire world, is being really smart, and thoughtful, and being generous…everything else is crap…that people try to sell to you to make you feel like less; so don’t buy it.” We agree with Ashton, being sexy is not dictated by a look or product, but rather, being smart, thoughtful, and generous is what makes you sexy. Why should you ever feel like less when you can be so much more?
Living Life. “Build a life, don’t live one.” Finally, remember that you are in control of the life you live. You can choose to build a life of your own, and live that life with confidence, or not. Everyday can bring new opportunities and everyday you should choose to keep building your own life the best way you can.
After seeing this video, I hope it has the same impact on you as it did me; to these lessons to heart and constantly remind yourself how precious life is, and how valuable you can be if you remember to: “Build a life, find your opportunities, and always be sexy.”
