It’s ok to look back sometimes. Life is full of adventures; but also challenges and moments that will make you question what it’s all worth. We’ve all been there, and we’ve all gotten through them. But when we think of hindsight, typically we focus on the mistakes we’ve made, what we could’ve done differently, or what we would’ve changed. Hindsight, even if it is always 20/20, doesn’t have to be a reflection of our mistakes.
It’s ok to look back sometimes. If you look back in the right way, you’ll see the fun you’ve had, the risks you’ve taken, the memories you’ve made. Now that’s a hindsight 20/20 worth thinking about! Even the challenging moments have positive outcomes. You’ve become stronger, wiser, and more resilient because of your journey. So be proud of all those moments; they make you unique.
It’s ok to look back sometimes, because your past is what makes you who you are today. You can run away from it, hide from it, try and pretend it never happened; but in the end, it’s still a part of YOU. Take every difficulty, every impossible moment and appreciate them; as hard as they were, you still made it out alive.
When I look back on my life, I want to know that I’ve had the best and the worst moments that I can handle, and that each and every one of those has helped shape me into a beautiful broken person. No one is perfect, and the more I try to be, the more I will regret what I am missing. I want to be happy with the choices I’ve made, the decisions I might’ve struggled with, and the lessons I’ve learned.
When you look back on your life, what do you want to see? Make that the basis for how you live today, and every day. We focus so much on the future, but we forget that it will eventually be the past. So take each moment for what it can be, what it is NOW, and write your past so that you’ll look back on it and smile. And hey, you might just look back and realize it was here all along.
